Microsoft to roll out IE 7 later this month

I got an e-mail from Microsoft this morning about the impending release of Internet Explorer (sometime this month). I was surprised to learn that this release would be part of upcoming security updates and would be installed automatically on most machines. Having done nothing so far to test any websites, I wanted to figure out a way to install IE7 to run alongside IE6. This way, I am able to troubleshoot potential issues over the seperate browser versions for the users who do not update. Now, I have heard some good things about IE7 and some bad... although it seems that according to a lot of people anything Microsoft decides to do is evil, thoughtless, greedy, and insecure... but I digress. Back to the point at hand... I followed these instructions and was able to run IE 7 without upgrading. So far so good. However, I'm now having a problem where internal sites with a directory login won't even load. I thought this was a big problem... then I upgraded IE on an old test machine and everything seems to work fine with the login there. So I'm still searching for a solution to this login problem. I would like to use this Standalone version of IE7 without affecting my current environment but it looks like I may not have a choice.
